Good morning all! The Mother’s Day Brunch from the weekend was fantastic! We had a great turnout of mothers and their children, and the guest speakers were the youth of our parish! One young woman sang a song to her mother and she was just so incredibly talented. Another young lady spoke about her mom as a great friend whom she could laugh with and tease; she knew she was going to miss her when she went to University this year. It was just incredibly touching to hear teens and children say thank you to their mothers for being there for them.

I too shared a few words about my mother, she’s an incredible lady actually. I shared a story about the year that I left Canada and lived in England and then traveled in India for three months with some students from the University of Waterloo. I told everyone that when I was getting really homesick, somehow my mother would find me (even though we were traveling every three days in India) and a letter would arrive from her to pick up my spirits! Mothers….their love can even travel across oceans, they are truly a gift from God because God knew that sometimes you need someone physical to hug. Its hard to imagine, but I know that God loves me 100 times more than my mother loves me….is that possible you ask? I believe it is.

It was truly a great time, and the brunch that I envisioned came together beautifully because of all the helping hands of the great volunteers, they were amazing and I’m so grateful for their help.

It was really a wonderful day and I’m finally starting to get to know a few more faces in the community, not to mention I got to meet the parents of many of the youth in the parish. It was awesome to learn more about the lives of the youth in our Parish, some are working hard at interesting jobs, some are getting ready to go to University, and some are finishing University and are starting new adventures (some are journeying with me to Assisi soon for the Pilgramage to Assisi!!). A fun day, all for the Greater Glory of God and of course…to spoil our mothers!
