Are you a supporter of publicly funded Catholic Schools?

Archbishop Collins invites all parishioners to designate their support of the Catholic school system on their property tax assessment. You may not be aware that if you move, your assessment status defaults to that of a public ratepayer. Your support helps to maintain an accurate registry of Catholic ratepayers, determine the number of Catholic Trustees to govern our schools, and most importantly, allows you to participate in the voting process to elect School Board Trustees. The next election will take place this October in municipalities throughout our Archdiocese.

Step 1 If you are unsure whether you are registered as a supporter of publicly funded Catholic schools, please check your most recent municipal property tax assessment for this information. If this information is not accessible, please call the school board and they will be able to tell you if you are currently supporting publicly funded Catholic Education. If you currently support Catholic schools through your municipal taxes, thank you. If you do not, please proceed to step 2. If you are a tenant or own a residence where one owner is non-Catholic, please contact your school board below.

Step 2If you know you are not currently a supporter of publicly funded Catholic schools, please complete this form and mail to the school board at:

Friars Elect New Leadership

Last week at their Chapter gathering the friars elected new leadership. By a majority of 96%, the friars voted to unite with another province of the Order, St. Anthony of Padua which has its headquarters in Maryland. That province also voted for union with an 86% majority. The union of the two provinces will provide for greater flexibility in planning for community and ministry. Our leadership will be meeting over the next few weeks to come up with a proposal to the next session of the Chapter gathering in mid-June regarding the assignment of friars and the election of friary Guardians and other officials.
